This is the procedure to view or change the number of gear teeth that the Registration System thinks are on the Impression Cylinder Print Roll Drive Gear: This is the keyboard: ________________________ | | | | | | | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | O | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | | | | 000 | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | O | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| a. Press all three of these keys marked with 0's together, depressing the one marked 000 just slightly before the other two. b. The top line of the display will show the number of gear teeth that the Registration System thinks are on the Impression Cylinder Print Roll Drive Gear on the Gear Side End of the Impression Cylinder. For a Commander this value will be 99 (gear teeth for 1/8 inch gearing), unless you bought an unusual press. For Mark IIII presses this value will be 132, while Mark III will be 220. b. If you have "Recognize/use/display dual gearing" set up as an "Operational Modes Preferences" option (this is default for Commander presses), then you'll see two lines, one much brighter than the other. The bottom line of the display will show the number of gear teeth that the Registration System thinks are on the Impression Cylinder Print Roll Drive Gear on the Operator Side End of the Impression Cylinder. The bright one will be the one you'll be adjusting. You can switch between the two lines by pressing the first column, second row key: ________________________ | | | | | | | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | O | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| c. Select the proper line and rotate the hand encoder to adjust the gear tooth count. For example, if you wanted to set up 1/16 inch gearing for the Impression Cylinder Print Roll Drive Gear on the Operator Side End of the Impression Cylinder, then select the bottom line of the display, and dial in 198 as the number of gear teeth. d. To make the Registration Sysem remember the new value, press all three of these keys marked with 0's together, depressing the one marked 000 just slightly before the other two: ________________________ | | | | | | | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | O | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | | | | 000 | |_____|_____|_____|_____| | | | | | | O | | | | |_____|_____|_____|_____| e. It's good practice to check your work by repeating steps a and d above, omitting changing any data. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright 2009, Michael L.
